Okay, confession time. For years, when I applied a “full-face” of make-up, I was totally skipping out on one of the most crucial steps: lipstick. I don’t really know why. I guess I wasn’t comfortable wearing it and wasn’t sure if it looked “right” on me. Well one thing is for sure, wearing nothing on my lips wasn’t doing much for me. I had tried a few drugstore lipsticks here and there over the years, but found that I had to reapply them multiple times throughout the day because they came off so easily. Super annoying. Ain’t nobody got time for that.
One day I finally decided to step out of my comfort zone and find a really good quality, everyday matte lipstick. I also wanted a lip liner, too, so I could over line my lips a little. I went to Sephora and gladly accepted the help when an associate approached me. I told her what I was looking for and she said she knew exactly what I needed. She brought me gorgeous shades of lipstick and liner. I loved them right away.
First up was this Lancome lip liner in the shade ‘Natural Mauve’. It rolls on like butter and is really easy to apply. I’ve tried drugstore lip liners and those are a no go. They always crumble and little chunks of the product would end up on my lips. So gross and not cute. (This is why I just said forget it with lip products, y’all.. but I feel like make-up is just one of those things you have to spend a little more money on sometimes. I mean, this is yo face we’re talking about here!) Don’t get me wrong — I have found some really amazing ride or die drugstore products that I have used for years because I’ve not been able to find even a high end brand that beats them. Anyways.. let’s get back to this mauve look!
The lipstick! So even though this is a totally different brand than the liner, I’m pretty sure this lipstick was meant to be paired with it. It blends perfectly with the lip liner. It’s called ‘Stay All day’ matte lippie by Stila. It’s in the shade “Brûlée” and it’s perfect! It’s creamy even though it’s matte and is rich in color, so it doesn’t take much to apply. It also doesn’t get too dry and it literally lasts all day. Sometimes I quickly apply another coat after like 5 or 6 hours of wear, just for good measure!
What’s your favorite fall lip shade?? I’d love some suggestions! I’m sure I can make room for more favs.
