With Independence Day quickly approaching, I thought it would be fun to do a festive craft with my three year old while her baby sister napped. I honestly did not plan for this craft at all and just looked at what supplies we already had around the house. I wasn’t sure how it would turn out, but I thought it was easy and cute enough to share.
Toilet paper rolls
Red, White & Blue construction paper
Yellow tissue paper
Orange construction paper
I covered the toilet paper rolls with the white construction paper to make painting a little easier. My daughter warmed up her cutting skills in the back while I did this.
The fun part, decorate! Stickers…
Painting the stickers..? Whatever you want, girlfriend!
She glued on some pom balls, too!
Then I helped her make the “rocket tops”. I cut out a 3/4 circle and made a cone, then let her paint them.
We glued the “rocket tops” on and let them dry for a few minutes. Then I cut out flame shaped pieces from the orange construction paper and helped her tape them to the inside of the toilet paper roll. I also had her crinkle some yellow tissue paper and we taped them inside the bottom, too. We were so proud of our rockets, we decided to hang them from the chandelier in our breakfast nook. Classy.
Hope you have a Happy 4th!
