What’s In My Hospital Bag?

I never thought I’d get to the end of this pregnancy, but here we are in week 36. I guess it’s time to really start preparing for the big day. My last two labors were just a few hours from first contraction to baby being born, so I need to have everything set to go. I probably still overpacked a little, even though this is my third go at this rodeo, but I’m an over packer. It’s just who I am!
If you’re a new mama, you probably want to bring all the things to the hospital with you. I did this my first go around and out of about 50 items, I used like two things. Okay, maybe a few more than that, but really and truly, I didn’t even touch at least 80% of the stuff I packed. I even packed diapers! (Don’t do that unless you’re in the UK; the hospital gives you tons. And wipes, too!)

If you’ve had a baby before, then you know the deal. You don’t need to bring literally everything you own. You’re really not even in the hospital that long. If you’re lucky and you have your baby in the morning hours, you may get to leave the next evening. I’m never that lucky. My babies come at night so I’m stuck in the hospital for what seems like forever. But even still, I don’t use much of my own things. My hours consist of nursing, staring at my baby sleep, nursing more, changing diapers, not getting any sleep myself, annddd repeat. Ahh, newborn life.

I’ve broken down my list into two sections: One for me and one for baby. There may be things that aren’t on my list that you feel like you would need. You do you, mama. There is no shame in overpacking. Heck, I do it on every vacation. On trips that just my husband and I take, I usually have a bag just for my own shoes. For this hospital list, I’m just sharing the things that I will definitely use while I’m there.

2 pairs of pajamas
Nursing bras
Underwear (aka granny panties)
Make-up + chapstick
Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, dry shampoo, face cleansing wipes, etc)
Change for vending machines (snacks on snacks on snacks)
Phone Charger
Going home outfit (aka more pjs)

A few onesies (short and long sleeved)
2 hats
2 pairs of mittens
2 sleepers
1 gown
2 muslin blankets
2 receiving blankets

That’s it! That’s all I’m bringing. I’m debating bringing my boppy pillow but I brought it the first time and don’t remember using it much. Is there anything you think I’m missing?? Comment below and let me know!

A little push motivation from Salt-N-Peppa.
